Mary Agrusa's BiographyMary has been a professional, full-time Graphic Designer and Artist for over 20 years. She also teaches watercolor painting to beginning students through the Brevard County School District. A resident of Florida since 1986, moving there from Haiti where she and her family spent three years there as missionaries. Mary has always loved watercolor painting but not until 1998 did she seriously pursue this expression of her creativity. As a professional artist she has always had some form of artistic endeavor in progress, from creative sewing, embroidery, tole painting and even sign painting! In the expression of watercolor art she has found her artistic love. Mary's favorite subject matters are architectural elements and buildings as well as flowers and foliage. She originally began her training in architectural design and, even though it was a field she chose not to continue in, her love of old and interesting structures is evident in her work. She also searches for unique compositions that contain contrasts of strong lights and darks as well as cast-shadows. Mary gathers her original and unique source material from photos she takes in her local area and in travels around the world. She usually carries a camera with her and is always looking for unique subject matter that could be her next creation. It is not unusual for her to shoot four or five rolls of film at a time in order to obtain one or two photos that will become the subject of a finished painting. Mary loves strong, vibrant colors and incorporates them as much as possible into her artwork. Please enjoy your visit to the online Gallery. |
