What's new at studioA

I have worked in the field of Graphic Art and Design for over 20 years. In the mid-1990's I took a class in watercolor painting and have been hooked ever since. I enjoy watercolor painting so much that since Spring, 2001 I have been teaching beginners classes for the Brevard County School District.

Unlike most "transplants" to Florida, I did not (directly) come down from "up north" but actually came up from "down south". We moved to Florida after living in Haiti for three years. Living in different locations, countries and cultures has given me a greater appreciation for where I am living  now and also for being an American.

My favorite types of paintings contain strong lights and darks along with interesting cast-shadows. My two primary areas of interest in painting subjects are: buildings and architectural elements as well as flowers and foliage.

Old buildings have always fascinated me as I appreciate the skill, hard work and craftmanship that went into these older structures, particularly  the time invested in work completed by hand, without modern power tools.

Flowers and foliage are subjects that offer unending possibilities with a wide range of color, texture, line, shape and form.

I love using strong, bold and vivid colors in my work. I believe that color is exciting, cheerful and inviting. For the most part, my work is done in watercolor, however, I also do limited works in acrylics, watercolor crayons and pencils.

Please enjoy your visit and come back often to view old and new favorites in the online Gallery.
